Thank you lovely readers for alerting me to these! They both look fun and female and make me happy, yaaaaaaaay!
Crew
Kareena, Tabu, Kriti! What a FABULOUS cast!!! And what a really great idea for a setting, “Air Hostess” is one of the most stable filmi heroine jobs, but we never have a movie that digs into what the day to day of that life is, behind any glamour. And here we have a crew with the Old Hand Tabu, the mid-career Kareena, and the bright eyed Kriti. Air Hostess and Actress are two careers that I can believe women have been working steadily from the 90s to today! The trailer I watched didn’t have subs, but I don’t really care because I got the vibe of it. They find gold bars randomly during a flight, then work together through various hijinks to hold on to the cash and change their lives. Oh, and the second best part (second to the cast), SAME WRITERS AS VEERE DI WEDDING!!! Only thing that makes me nervous is that it’s a first time director, hmmm.
Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar
Oh dear Bhansali. I love this cast, love love love Sonakshi, Aditi, Manisha, thrilled they get big centerpiece stories. But on the other hand, Bhansali’s take on history is so infuriating!!! I’m not even talking about the Islamophobia stuff, he just sort of turns the past into a pretty fairy tale instead of dealing with it as a place with layers and complexity and shades of grey. Which makes it all the easier to think of present day things as black and white and simple. And see, this is why I try not to watch Bhansali! Because he turns me into “angry bitter Margaret” and I don’t like her.
