Arlo Parks has announced that a deluxe edition of her sophomore album, My Soft Machine, will be released on December 8th via Transgressive Records. As a preview, the CoSign alum has shared her cover of Jai Paul’s “Jasmine,” which will be featured on the upcoming record, along with a visualizer directed by Joel Barney.
“Jasmine” is one of six new recordings on My Soft Machine (Deluxe). The release will also feature a new rendition of “I’m Sorry” featuring Lous and The Yakuza, a new version of “Blades” featuring redveil, a cover of Tirzah’s “Holding On,” and acoustic versions of “Devotion” and “Pegasus.”
In a statement, Parks said that receiving Jai Paul’s blessing to cover “Jasmine” was “one of the highlights of my creative journey so far.” She explained, “I really wanted to draw out the yearning of the lyrics and pay homage to an artist who has had a seismic impact on me and on culture.” The visualizer, which you can stream below, sees Parks traverse across New York.
The album announcement comes on the heels of Parks’ debut book, The Magic Border, and just before she sets out on her North American tour in support of the album beginning in February 2024. Parks will be making stops in 18 cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Atlanta, New York, and more. Tickets are available here.
My Soft Machine (Deluxe) will be available digitally only. Pre-saves are ongoing, and check out its tracklist below.
