Well, I had a lovely lowkey Shahrukh birthday! Still not my best one ever, which was totally unplanned. I was at a friend’s small relaxed birthday party and I realized it was coming up on midnight on November 1, so we put a candle back in the birthday cake leftovers and sang Happy birthday to Shahrukh at exactly midnight. Anyway, tonight was nice too! It’s always nice to spend time with Shahrukh.
I invited over a bunch of people, and didn’t expect anyone necessarily to come because Shahrukh is rude enough to have his birthday on a weekday this year. I had just about made my peace with a quiet evening eating the whole cake myself and watching songs, when one of my oldest friends showed up! I hadn’t seen her in literally years, but she’s been a regular off and on (two years on, one year off, and so on) at my movie nights since the beginning. So we caught up, I told her what was happening with our mutual friends, we ordered a pizza and watched Jawan. Which is still good! I was worried it wouldn’t be as good on the small screen. I even had new thoughts and saw new things this time around! I’ll probably put up a post tomorrow because it is TOO LATE tonight.
At intermission, we took a break to make The Grand SRK Cake. I shall show you the journey in 3 photos:
The initial tools (notice that I got EXTRA creamy cream)
The gorgeous but temporary decoration
The ultimate decoration after the artistic one melted away
I took my lovely cake upstairs to show my neighbors (who were on their way out to a show and therefore could not join the SRK fest), we petted the cats and wished each other Happy SRK Day, and then we came back downstairs and finished Jawan and just generally had a lovely lovely evening.
Honestly, I always do have a nice SRK Day. I think because the essence of it is so pleasant. For me at least, it’s about happy memories, old friendships, and of course, cake.
