Welcome back to Origins, our recurring series that gives artists a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, DijahSB takes us through “Don’t Touch,” the latest single from their upcoming album, The Flower That Knew.
Polaris-Prize shortlisted rapper DijahSB has announced their new solo record, The Flower That Knew, set for release on Friday, November 17th. To accompany the announcement, Consequence is exclusively premiering their two new singles, “Don’t Touch” and “I’m Blooming.”
Building on the smooth, upbeat, jazzy sound of their latest single, “How R U,” the Toronto rapper brings more catchy flows and upbeat production to these new tracks. Speaking about the track “Don’t Touch,” Dijah talks about building on the foundation of their inspirations and how trend-hopping mirrored experiences in their own career. “If you’re not really prepared to take care of me or help me throughout my journey,” they said, “then don’t bother coming around.”
If you didn’t come around when they first burst onto the scene there is still time. The twin new tracks serve as a perfect platform to get into their own world and explore further. “Don’t Touch” and “I’m Blooming” serve as indelible reminders of the talent that DijahSB showcases constantly.
The Flower That Knew serves as the proper follow-up to Head Above the Waters, which landed on our 2021 list of rap albums not to miss. Since then, Dijah has released EPs like Tasty Raps Vol. 1, 2022 the EP, and Tasty Raps Vol. 2. Pre-orders for The Flower That Knew are ongoing.
