Sony’s Spider-Man Universe crosses over with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in a new international trailer. Miles Morales’ story continues this summer as the web-crawler swings back to the big screen in his latest animated adventure, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The highly anticipated sequel will see Miles join forces with old allies and meet new heroes in the large Spider-Verse.
However, it appears that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will make a visit to Sony’s Spider-Man Universe too. In a new international trailer for the animated feature (via Joblo,) the new villain, Spot, shows up in the Venom franchise, having a moment with Mrs. Chen.
It’s unclear if this is the only live-action crossover that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will have with other Sony properties. However, it has been rumored that other live-action Spider-Men may be factored into the sequel in one way or another, but time will tell if that is actually true.
Will Miles Morales Join The Live-Action MCU?
With Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse seemingly doing live-action crossovers, it begs the question of when Miles will actually make his debut outside the animated universe. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Miles is already confirmed to exist in the franchise through his Uncle Aaron establishing his place in the larger Avengers-based universe. However, Miles has yet to appear properly on-screen in the MCU, as it has been several years since Miles’ name-drop happened in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
But as Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are seemingly developing Spider-Man 4, they might be looking to pave the way for Miles sooner rather than later. Despite another sequel being in the works, it hasn’t been clarified if Tom Holland is intending to do another whole trilogy or stay with the MCU for much longer. Depending on how many more films Holland decides to do, if he is getting ready to hang up the suit, it wouldn’t be shocking if one of his last films will somehow set up Miles to take over for him as the new Spider-Man.
Given the big success of the Spider-Verse franchise, it is only a matter of time before Miles gets his due in the MCU. If Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is another smash hit, it wouldn’t be shocking if Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures start to fast-track the hero’s live-action debut. Until that happens, Miles’ next adventure in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will provide plenty of web-swinging action.
