A high-speed chase with the police and Anthony Ramos’ first meeting with Mirage are shown off in a new clip from Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Directed by Steven Caple Jr., Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is heavily inspired by the “Beast Wars” spinoff and is the seventh film in the long-running franchise. The upcoming sequel is expected to introduce a host of new Transformers, including factions like the Predacons, Terrorcons, and Maximals, as well as a new human protagonist in the form of Ramos’ Noah.
Now, ahead of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts‘ release date next month, IGN has shared a new clip from the film, which shows off some of the sequel’s street-level action. Check out the new clip below:
The clip begins with Optimus Prime saying his iconic line, “Autobots, roll out,” which spurs Mirage into action. Brief snippets of Noah’s street race with the cops and his first meeting with Pete Davidson’s Mirage were briefly shown off in the film’s official trailer, but the new clip shows the sequence off in its most complete state yet.
Noah’s Dynamic With Mirage Will Be Crucial To Transformers 7
Although, broadly, all the Transformers movies have dealt with the ongoing war between the Autobots and Decepticons, the bond between a human protagonist and his Transformer vehicle has always been at the heart of the franchise. The very first movie, Michael Bay’s Transformers in 2007, is centered around Shia LaBeouf’s Sam Witwicky, chronicling his evolving bond with Bumblebee. This dynamic then continues through to Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Transformers: Age of Extinction trade’s out Sam for Mark Wahlberg’s Cade, whose relationship to Optimus is a core part of the film. The human-Transformer friendship dynamic is explored with even more depth in 2018’s Bumblebee, which takes a small-scale approach to the franchise as Hailee Steinfeld’s Charlie fixes up and bonds with the film’s titular Autobot. The core human characters all typically serve as examples to the Autobots of why humanity is worth fighting for.
A lot of questions remain about Noah and how he will fit into the larger Autobot versus Decepticon war going on, but he will ultimately be the vehicle through which audiences are introduced to the world of the film. Noah and his budding friendship with Mirage will seemingly be a crucial part of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and the film could end up ringing quite hollow if this dynamic doesn’t work. Although the Transformers movies have always been about the action, the bond between humanity and this race of alien robots is what gives this action meaning.
