The recurring Lost Woods area has challenged players across the Zelda series and poses a new problem in Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom. As part of the larger Great Hyrule Forest, players must pass through the Lost Woods to reach Korok Forest, which contains the important Deku Tree. To reach it, players will need to use the new Ascend ability in Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, the Lost Forest was covered in fog but could be passed through by following a certain path indicated by torchlights. However, in Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, no matter which way players head into the forest, it will throw them back out to the entrance with no conventional way of crossing. Diving in from above to avoid the Lost Forest will also not work, as Link will again be sent back to the entrance.
In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, the only way to pass the Lost Forest to reach Korok Forest is by going under it through the Depths.)
How To Get Through The Lost Woods
To pass the Lost Woods, players need to go underneath it through the depths. There are lots of chasms creating entrances to the Depths in Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, but due to rock walls underground, there is only one that will provide a path through the Lost Woods, which is in Minshi Woods as marked on the above map. As always, players will need to take Brightbloom seeds with them to lighten up the Depths to make their journey through them much easier.
Once players have glided down into the chasm, they should head North West towards where Korok Forest can be found on the overworld map. By following this path, players will find Poes, which will help lead them in the right direction. Players will then be met by a large area that can’t be crossed, but in the same location are Giant Ogre trees here that can be climbed. From the top of the trees, Link can then glide down towards the area not filled with gloom before continuing to follow another trial of Poes. Eventually, players will find a well-lit stone platform area with another platform directly above it.
How To Find The Korok Forest
Once players have made their way through the Depths and underneath the Korok Forest, they will need to use one of Link’s new abilities in Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, Ascend. Once they have reached the platform, players should stand on the pillar before activating the ascend ability to go straight up out of the Depths arriving near the Great Deku Tree in the Korok Forest. From here, players can explore the Forest, with the area containing lots to find and a new quest.
Unlike in previous games, the Lost Forest can’t actively be explored. However, by going through the Depths and using Ascend, players can bypass the Lost Forest and reach the Korok Forest to continue on their journey in Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom.
