Warning: contains spoilers for Warlock: Rebirth #1!Adam Warlock has a new sister, named Eve, and she is officially a Thanos-level threat. Adam Warlock is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe, with few even able to threaten him. But in Warlock: Rebirth #1, a new threat emerges, in the form of his sister Eve Warlock. Eve is clearly an improvement over Adam, capable of taking the full force of his powers.
The issue is written by Ron Marz, drawn by Ron Lim, inked by Don Ho, colored by Romulo Fajardo Jr and lettered by Joe Sabino. It opens with Genis-Vell, Pip, Gamora, and Adam discovering a cocoon, similar to the one that Adam was born in. It begins to shake and crackle with energy – suddenly, a woman bearing a strong resemblance to Adam Warlock emerges. Calling herself “Eve Warlock,” she tells Adam and the Infinity Watch she has come to replace him. The Infinity Watch attacks, but Eve swats them away easily. She manages to overpower Adam, and when he attempts to blast her with the Soul Stone, she merely absorbs it, throwing it back at Warlock and knocking him unconscious. Eve then takes the Soul Stone for herself. After she leaves, the Infinity Watch checks on Adam, only to find he’s dead!
Eve Warlock Is Strong Enough to Kill Adam
For over 50 years, Adam Warlock has reigned as one of Marvel’s most powerful characters. Created to be the perfect human, Warlock instead rebelled against his creators and traveled the stars. Under the guidance of Jim Starlin, Warlock became one of Marvel’s best cosmic characters. Eventually, Warlock proved integral to defeating Thanos during Infinity Gauntlet, cementing his place in the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe. After vanquishing Thanos, Warlock became leader of the Infinity Watch, a group of heroes who guarded each of the six Infinity Stones. Even without his Soul Stone, Adam Warlock is a godlike being – but his sister looks to be even stronger. This puts her in a class consisting of Adam, Thanos, and almost no-one else.
Eve Warlock Makes Adam Look Bad
Not much is revealed about Eve Warlock in this issue, but her sheer power and strength is clear for all to see. Moments after emerging from her cocoon, Eve Warlock was capable of overpowering Adam as well as the rest of the Infinity Watch. But perhaps her most impressive feat was standing up to the power of the Soul Stone. The Soul Stone is arguably the most powerful of the Infinity Stones, but Eve Warlock was able to turn it back on Adam. This suggests she was able to master the cosmic artifact more effectively despite zero experience.
Thanos and Adam are so uniquely powerful that they have become closer to allies than enemies, despite their frequent combat. No other being can truly understand what it means to be so thoroughly entangled with the fate of the cosmos, making the two rare equals. Now, there’s a third member of their club – one who can challenge even the Mad Titan’s might. How Eve Warlock will use her powers remains to be seen, but Adam Warlock‘s new ‘sister’ just arrived on the scene as a cosmic god who presents a Thanos-level threat only the Infinity Watch can stop.
