Superman & Lois is on a hiatus but will be returning to continue its third season soon. On Superman & Lois, Tyler Hoechlin’s Man of Steel is married to Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) and is the father to two teenage sons, Jordan (Alex Garfin) and Jonathan Kent (Jordan Elsass in seasons one and two, and Michael Bishop in season three). Raising his family in his hometown of Smallville, Kansas, Clark Kent is both the show’s heroic lead and wise mentor to the up-and-coming Jordan, who has developed Kryptonian superpowers on par with his father’s.
Superman & Lois has set up a possible villain war with Intergang leader Bruno Mannheim (Chad L. Coleman) and Lex Luthor (Michael Cudlitz) emerging as antagonists, along with the returning Bizarro (also played by Tyler Hoechlin). Superman & Lois airs on Tuesday nights on the CW, but there will be no new episode of season three this week. Fortunately, it will not be long before Superman & Lois returns to air.
Superman & Lois Season 3 Episode 9 Airs May 23 on The CW
Superman & Lois is taking a week-long break, with the next episode of season three, titled “The Dress,” to air on May 23 at the show’s normal air time of 8 pm EST/7 pm CST. This is the second break Superman & Lois has taken in season three, following a two-week break in April between the show’s fifth and sixth episodes. However, the breaks of Superman & Lois season three are fortunately far less frequent than those of season two, which had to navigate four breaks in its airing schedule.
Why Is Superman & Lois Season 3 On Hiatus
While the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic were partially to blame for the breaks in Superman & Lois season two, no specific reason has been given for the second break in season three. In all likelihood, it is probably a relatively normal hiatus that weekly shows take for post-production work on upcoming episodes to catch up and be ready for the next episode to air. With Superman & Lois being a particularly effects-heavy show, periodic breaks of this nature are more necessary than most for the show to be as polished as possible.
What To Expect From Superman & Lois Season 3 Episode 9
Superman & Lois season three dropped a major bomb early in the season by revealing that Lois has stage three breast cancer, and this will undoubtedly continue to be a major element of the show’s continuing story in season three. Additionally, the arcs of the Kent boys are rapidly taking them in new directions, with Jonathan entering a new potential career as a firefighter for Smallville’s local fire department. Meanwhile, Jordan’s journey to becoming Superboy could also be a big part of Superman & Lois‘s next episode.
The Man of Steel himself faces a complex conflict with both Bruno Mannheim and Lex Luthor, the latter being positioned as a very different version of Superman’s arch-nemesis, and both will surely impact the next episode. Additionally, with Bizarro revived after his death in season two, he is clearly headed for a new conflict with Superman. That could come to a head as soon as the ninth episode of Superman & Lois season three, with Superman and Bizarro meeting again on much harsher terms than before.
