Warning! Contains spoilers for Multiversity: Harley Screws Up the DCU #3!The Flash has just received a disgusting update to his iconic origin. In her attempts to make things right, Harley Quinn has given Barry Allen’s first encounter with the Speed Force a revolting twist.
In Multiversity: Harley Screws Up the DCU #3, Harley and a variant of herself are trying to fix the timeline after the original Harley majorly screwed it up by erasing the Justice League. Harley’s recent escapades with a time machine altered the origins of the League’s founding members, meaning the two Harleys must go back and fix each one. During her initial time travel, Harley destroyed the chemicals Barry Allen needed to be coated in when struck by lightning.
To make sure Barry doesn’t die via lightning strike, the duo goes back in time to make sure the vials don’t break early and put them in their proper place. However, Harley accidentally puts one additional container on the shelf along with the other glassware. Barry is struck by lightning and takes his chemical bath, but the Harleys quickly realize something’s gone wrong when a foul odor hits their noses. Apparently, the original Harley accidentally added a vial of monkey urine to the Flash’s chemical collection.
Flash’s New Origin Makes Him Smell Like Monkey Urine
Harley has screwed up things before, but her latest blooper has caused the entire DC Universe to suffer. After receiving a time machine from an unknown benefactor, Harley went on a tear across all time and space, taking her to some of the most pivotal moments in the DCU’s history. But thanks to her time-spanning adventure, she’s completely rid the Earth of its greatest heroes, leaving it open for Starro the Conqueror to claim the planet for itself. Harley’s only option is to try and get the heroes’ origins back to normal (or as close as possible, anyway).
And yeah, Harley did do right by the Flash and made sure he didn’t get fried to death. But her addition of such a gross item might have killed Barry’s reputation instead. Who knows to what extent the monkey urine has affected Flash? Maybe it’s something that will come out with a shower (or several). Or maybe it’s something that Barry’s just going to smell like from now on. Granted, smelling awful is better than being dead, but who knows how this flub has affected Barry’s future?
Flash’s World Has Changed Because of Monkey Pee (Seriously)
Flash is a friendly guy, and he’s universally loved by everyone. But that was before he was running around smelling like the inside of a primate’s bathroom. If this smell really is part of the Flash now, then he can say goodbye to most of his personal relationships. He might be nice, but all the good manners in the world can’t make up for smelling like that. His relationship with Iris West? Gone unless he’s constantly trying to mask the odor. Being the Flash Family’s leader? Maybe, as long as he’s downwind. Fans can see the unfortunate twist to Flash’s origin in Multiversity: Harley Screws Up the DCU #3, on sale now.
