The Skriton is a terrifying scorpion-like beast that stalks its prey from beneath the sands of Jedha in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Players will encounter this boss enemy on their first trip to Jedha, where it menaces Jedi Knight Cal Kestis from beneath the sands before emerging to confront him as part of a challenging boss fight. However, players can easily slay the beast with a few tips and tricks.
Unlike Jedi Survivor’s Spawn of Oggdo boss, the Skriton isn’t an optional boss battle; players must fight and kill the beast to progress further through the story. The Skriton isn’t necessarily one of the game’s toughest bosses, but it has a few deadly attacks that can easily crush unwary players. As such, it’s not to be taken lightly, and players should take the opportunity to prepare.
How To Prepare For The Skriton Boss Battle In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
The Skriton appears inside a cavern after players pass the Halls of Ranvell meditation point. After eliminating the last Stormtrooper patrol in the area, Cal can create a shortcut back to the meditation point. This allows players to rest, recover their health stims, and select perks and stances.
Generally speaking, players should prioritize perks that increase Cal’s damage or block meter. For example, the Shatter perk players can earn by defeating Jedi Survivor’s Legendary Rancor boss on Koboh should be avoided. This perk makes Cal’s attacks more effective at breaking an enemy’s guard, but the Skriton doesn’t actually appear to have a guard meter. So instead of trying to parry and stun, players must find openings to deal damage.
The single lightsaber stance offers a good balance between speed, damage, and defense, making it an excellent choice for facing the Skriton. However, particularly confident players can also use the dual wield stance for high damage and speed.
How To Beat The Skriton In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
On entering the cavern, the Skriton will attack Cal almost immediately by lunging at him with a red unblockable attack, which players must dodge to avoid taking massive damage. The key to defeating the Skriton is to attack it from the side, as it can block any attacks from the front with its claw. Players must block or dodge around the Skriton, attacking just after the beast has finished its attack animations.
The Skriton will attempt to hit Cal with a sweeping attack from its tail or pummel him with its claw. These attacks can be blocked, but players should keep one of Jedi Survivor’s top tips in mind by watching Cal’s block meter to ensure the Skriton’s next attack doesn’t break Cal’s guard. The Skriton will also lunge forward and try to grab Cal with its claw. This can beat Cal to within an inch of death, especially on high difficulties, so players must dodge it at all costs.
Players can tell the Skriton is about to lunge when it briefly glows red. Unfortunately, Red Attacks cannot be blocked, so players must dodge out of the way in time to avoid being caught.
However, players can get even the odds by getting Merrin’s help. Merrin’s companion ability allows her to trap the Skriton using her Nightsister magic, freezing it in place for a few seconds and allowing Cal to deal massive damage. Players can also use Cal’s own Force Slow ability to create a small window where they can unleash their most powerful attacks.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Skriton can be a formidable foe, but by combining companion abilities, the Force, and a lightsaber, players can easily slay the beast and emerge victorious.
