We speak to Nathan D. Simmons on the making of From, how the story has shifted, and where the story takes Elgin across the course of the season.
Nathan D. Simmons Talks From Season 2
Screen Rant: Without going into spoilers, what can you say about where Elgin’s story takes him in From season 2?
Nathan D. Simmons: I feel like Elgin has to deal with a lot of issues of who to trust and not to trust, as well as balancing out what he’s seen in this dream that he had and trying to share that to warn people. That’s his journey, and he’s also trying to find his place, as well.
As far as Elgin’s journey on From and the premonitions that he has, what can you share about where that takes him and what role that plays in season 2?
Nathan D. Simmons: It takes him to some different places. There’s a lot that’s going to go on in this season, and the dreams kind of help guide where that goes to, especially for him as the season progresses. The information in the dreams get a bit more clear, and it takes things on a wild journey, and it also helps him connect with different characters, as well. His journey to figuring out certain characters help him, and help him find his place in the town.
What would you say is your favorite stand-out moment or element of Elgin’s story?
Nathan D. Simmons: For me, it definitely was the moment where Elgin stops being just concerned with himself and his own survival, and he tries to be helpful and help other people out in the town. That’s important, because up until that moment, there’s not many people who he would even open up to or talk to, or share anything with. But then there are moments where he does care about someone else’s well-being than his own, and I don’t want to spoil anything, but that was one of my favorite moments with him!
How would you say the show feels different from season 1 or will feel different for viewers?
Nathan D. Simmons: I feel like a lot more people are definitely starting to break. A lot of the strong characters, the town is starting to get to them, and it feels bad watching them go through this. Also, certain characters, you start to get a deeper appreciation for with who they are as people, which is also beautiful.
Where would you hope to see Elgin’s story continue going ahead?
Nathan D. Simmons: Ah geez! Hopefully, if we get a season three, I hope that Elgin becomes a natural member in the town, and finds a distinct place, because it feels like he’s still floating and wandering around, even though there’s people around him now. It still does feel like he is alone in a sense, and I hope as it goes forward, he does find a home and a family.
