Below Deck Mediterranean‘s former bosun Malia White and chief stew Katie Flood set the record straight by admitting whether they are romantically entwined or just very good friends. Malia first appeared in Below Deck Med season 2 as a deckhand, where her passion for yachting was noticed by Captain Sandy Yawn, who took Malia under her wing. With a few years off and new skills learned, Malia returned for Below Deck Med season 5 as a bosun. Malia and Katie met while filming the following season, which was Katie’s first (and only) one as a chief stew, and they became fast friends. Malia left after Below Deck Med season 6.
Often posing together in exotic locales, Malia and Katie’s bond is apparent. On Katie‘s Instagram Q&A, retold by @bravodailydish, Katie responded to a follower who asked “Are you and Malia dating?”
In response, Below Deck Med‘s Katie Flood used the laughing emoji and wrote, “No. But we are best friends that work and live together and have a lot of other amazing opportunities that we get to do together.” Katie went on to stress how lucky she was to have Malia, as the two are working side by side to realize their shared goals, dreams, and futures. As for a work future, Katie teased that she and Malia “have lots of exciting things coming.”
Below Deck’s Katie Flood Denies Hooking Up With Vanderpump Rules Star
As for Katie’s plans, it has been reported that she and Below Deck Med‘s Malia White have filmed for Bravo’s Winter House. Also rumored to join were Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz from Vanderpump Rules. In Katie’s Q&A, a fan asked, “Did you hook up with Tom Sandoval?” Sighing and shaking her head no, Katie replied, “This is the winner. I actually couldn’t stop laughing at this.” Currently, it appears that Sandoval never filmed, as the fallout from his affair with Vanderpump Rules‘ Raquel Leviss was intense. However, Tom Schwartz was spotted filming, and rumors of a hookup between himself and Katie have circulated. It appears the viewer inquired on the wrong Tom.
As the questions were brief, Katie answered each one without many elaborations. Therefore, she never clarified to the fans about Sandoval’s filming status when an inquiry arose on the pair hooking up during production. Nor did Katie make any attempts to comment on her rumored fling with the other Tom (Schwartz) when asked about Sandoval. Having spent a season on a popular show like Below Deck Med, Katie knows how to lure viewers. Therefore, if anyone should find themselves curious over whether Schwartz moves on from his ex-wife Katie Maloney to a new Katie, Katie Flood, they will simply have to just tune in to Winter House season 3.
As for the female yachting duo of Malia and Katie, the pair is still currently sailing the high seas, working on super yachts as heads of their respective departments. That said, Malia recently earned her Officer of the Watch License, which gives the holder total responsibility for the safe and smooth navigation of their assigned vessel. As stated during her time on Below Deck Med, Malia has aspirations to rise as far as humanly possibly within her field. Should Malia ever return to Below Deck Mediterranean, it will be fun to see in which position her assignment will fall and if Katie will be by her side.
