Casting a ray of light onto the ending of a darker season, Ariana Madix, Lala Kent, Katie Maloney, and Scheana Shay celebrate a needed (and well deserved) Vanderpump Rules win for “Best Onscreen Team” at the 2023 MTV Movie and TV Awards. Katie and Tom Schwartz’s divorce was a divisive topic this season, as Scheana took Tom’s side, failing to see Katie’s pain. This created an often-seen split within the women of Vanderpump Rules. However, where divides once existed, the ladies have managed to unite following the Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss cheating scandal, with the aim of supporting everyone’s shared friend, Ariana.
The ladies accepted their MTV award through a pre-recorded acceptance speech. “Wow, Best Onscreen Team,” Katie gushed. “Thank you so much, MTV, and especially to everyone that voted for us.” Scheana thanked the production team and fans, noting that this moment is “so exciting!” Concluding, Ariana added, “We’ve been through so many ups and downs as friends, and obviously, it’s been a very tumultuous time in all of our lives. But we are truly at our best when we come together as a team.” Lala sat out in solidarity with the WGA strike currently taking place but recorded a video to say that she was “honored.”
Vanderpump Rules Fans React To MTV Award
Fan responses immediately began to pour in with praise (as well as launching several digs towards the Toms, who have failed miserably during Vanderpump Rules season 10) over on a Reddit thread created by @Old-Werewolf-9872. “With each successive accomplishment Ariana and Katie achieve, I hope Tom2 fall a little further into the Scando-hole they created,” wrote BlitheCheese. Adding to this thought, butterfly131313 wrote, “So thrilled to see Katie and Ariana finally getting the recognition they deserve,” adding that “dropping that dead weight” has been nothing but a positive in their lives. “It really goes to show you that your partner in life can really overshadow who you are if it isn’t an equal and cohesive team.“
Scheana and Katie’s friendship struggled this season, as Katie felt that Scheana tried to get Tom Schwartz, Katie’s now ex-husband, to make-out with their co-star Raquel. In their divorce proceedings, the duo made a pact not to date any of their fellow Vanderpump Rules co-stars, but Tom broke this agreement with Katie when he made out with Raquel following Scheana’s prompting. That said, Scheana has now watched as this season plays back, with Katie’s pain on full display. Scheana now feels badly for the role she played and has since apologized to Katie. These days, Lala, Katie, Scheana, and Ariana attend events as a team, with their differences set aside.
After an affair scandal and a messy divorce, the ratings have soared, making the possibility for Vanderpump Rules season 11 very likely. Hopefully, next season will further show the ladies on this cast standing together as a team while living out positive storylines. Katie and Ariana’s sandwich shop, Something About Her, is set to open soon, while Lala and Scheana have purchased neighboring homes to raise their daughters in Palm Springs. Katie, Lala, and Ariana are also all now single and dating while Scheana’s marriage to Brock remains stable. Within all of these factors lies the potential for growth, character redemption, and a needed lighter season of Vanderpump Rules.
Vanderpump Rules airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
