Zack Snyder’s upcoming animated TV series Twilight of the Gods has received an exciting update, as Netflix has partnered with a French studio to bring the project to life. Twilight of the Gods will tell a story heavily inspired by Norse mythology. It is part of Snyder’s ongoing partnership with Netflix, which includes the Army of the Dead franchise and his upcoming space opera Rebel Moon.
According to Variety, Snyder and Netflix are partnering with French studio Xilam Animation to bring to bring Twilight of the Gods to the streaming platform. Xilam Animation has a long list of French productions under its belt, but has also contributed to Disney’s Chip ‘n’ Dale: Park Life among other American projects. Check out what Xilam Animation’s CEO Marc du Pontavice said about partnering with Snyder for Twilight of the Gods:
We’re so proud to be working with the team at Stone Quarry, including iconic creator and director Zack Snyder. And we’re also deeply grateful to Netflix for trusting us to bring his spectacular vision to life. We’ll be utilising state of the art 2D animation across the series, which will include spectacular battles and special effects in the distinctive style that has characterised Zack’s work throughout his illustrious career. This project also marks a significant step forward in our ambitions to bring our expertise into the world of adult action series for global audiences.
What To Expect From Twilight Of The Gods
While there’s not much information about Twilight of the Gods, du Pontavice’s comment about the series teases an action-packed story. This is reflective of other works from Snyder, like Zack Snyder’s Justice League, that contain epic sequences and battles between good and evil. Given Twilight of the Gods‘ Norse inspiration, it’s no surprise it will have plenty of spectacle.
Plot details for Twilight of the Gods remain under wraps, save for the inclusion of characters from Norse mythology. Twilight of the Gods already sports a massive cast, including John Noble, Corey Stoll, Jamie Clayton, Kristofer Hivju, and Rahul Kohli. The level of talent associated with Twilight of the Gods already indicates the high quality of Snyder’s Norse mythology story.
Twilight of the Gods isn’t the only Netflix animated production Snyder is involved with. An Army of the Dead prequel series, titled Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, is being developed by Snyder’s own Stone Quarry Animation studio. As Snyder focuses on the epic scale of Rebel Moon, which is set to release in December, it’s good news that projects like Twilight of the Gods are still being actively developed as well.
