Transformers: Rise of the Beasts star Anthony Ramos hypes “the biggest villain we’ve ever seen” in the franchise. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts sees Optimus Prime and his Autobots back in action alongside the newly introduced Maximals, led by Optimus Primal, as they must join forces against a potentially world-ending threat. Ramos stars as Noah, the new human protagonist, joined by a stellar cast voicing the Transformers, including Peter Dinklage, Pete Davidson, Ron Perlman, Michelle Yeoh, and Peter Cullen.
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Ramos revealed his excitement about “the biggest villain we’ve ever seen” in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. The most recent trailer for the Transformers sequel revealed Unicron, an iconic villain from Transformers lore that thrives by consuming planets. Unicron’s presence looks to act as the film’s driving conflict, with Ramos knowing how much the character’s presence will mean to Transformers fans. Check out Ramos’ comments on Transformers: Rise of the Beasts below:
“I was excited for the new characters to come to life and people to meet them, like Mirage and Rhinox and Cheetor and Optimus Primal. And Scourge being this new villain who I think is the biggest villain we’ve ever seen in any of these movies, and now we can actually talk about Unicron. For the fans, like the people that really love Transformers, this means a lot to them — they’ve been wanting to see these characters, especially Unicron, for years.”
What Transformers: Rise of The Beasts Has In Store
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is set to introduce the characters from their Beast Wars series. The franchise previously featured other Transformers, like the Dinobots in Transformers: Age of Extinction, with the new installment looking to continue branching out. Now, with the introduction of Unicron, the largest threat they’ve ever faced is upon them, with the epic scale of the film’s final battle having been hyped by producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
Aside from the new Maximal and Predacon characters, there will also be new Transformers, like Davidson’s Mirage, and new human characters with Dominique Fishback and Ramos. Franchise mainstays Optimus Prime and Bumblee are also back, with the series continuing to hop around the globe. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts filmed in Peru, with much of the movie reportedly taking place there.
Creed II director Steven Caple Jr. directed Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Michael Bay, who directed five films in the franchise, setting the tone for what the movie would be, is still on board as a producer, with his style and influence looking to continue. So while the franchise is looking to branch out with new characters and massive new villains, the film should still feel like part of the world.
