Superyacht Home had a romance onboard Below Deck Mediterranean season 7 between second stew Kyle Viljoen and charter guest Frank Fay. However, it wasn’t among the crew but rather a forbidden affair between a yachtie and a guest. In Below Deck Med season 7, episode 8, Kyle met Frank, who was one of the friends of the primary guest. Kyle immediately clicked with Frank and other guests onboard, who were also apart of the LGBTQIA+ community. Sparks were in the air, and soon, Kyle was neglecting his work to stay up all night to hang out with Frank and his friends.
This connection meant more to Kyle than just a work dalliance with a cute boy. In his confessional, Kyle opened up about coming out recently and having few experiences with men. Therefore, despite Captain Sandy Yawn’s warning and the fear of being fired should she find out, Kyle continued flirting with Frank until the last day of the charter, where he invited the group to hang out with the Below Deck Med crew on their day off.
Below Deck Med’s Kyle & Frank Won Over Fans
It was exciting to see Kyle and Frank enjoying their time together off the yacht, free from repercussions. Kyle and Frank promised to keep in touch and meet up again. At first, it was thought the two wouldn’t kiss on camera until Kyle ran out of the van as they left to kiss Frank passionately in the street. Afterward, Kyle was so consumed by the relationship that fellow stew Natalya Scudder got angry with Kyle and Natasha Webb’s laziness on the following charter.
Below Deck’s Kyle & Frank’s Romance Fizzled Post-Filming
Considering Kyle’s passion for Frank, it was assumed their relationship would last; unfortunately, it did not. Despite the end of Frank and Kyle’s whirlwind romance, they are still close to each other. After the Below Deck Med episodes with Frank were done, Kyle posted a heartwarming tribute to his ex on his Instagram, crediting Frank for helping him find his new boyfriend, Zachary Riley, who the stew called the “love of his life.” Their friendship continued after the charter, with Kyle and Frank spending Halloween together in New York in 2021.
Kyle and Zachary had been dating for about a year when they went Instagram official. Kyle is now a New York City resident, where his boyfriend, and even Frank, currently reside. Kyle and Zachary got engaged and even moved in together in January 2023 and are still going strong. Hopefully, their engagement will last even if Kyle does another season of Below Deck Mediterranean.
