1000-lb Sisters star Amy Slaton doesn’t have a long dating history, but that doesn’t mean that there hasn’t been major drama, and it’s possible that she was the catalyst for the fireworks. Most recently, her divorce from Michael Halterman has been making headlines, and a lot of blame is being heaped on him. However, if Amy’s past is any indication, she may have caused some of their marital problems.
Since the news broke that Amy and Michael are calling it quits, Michael has been cast as the villain on 1000-lb Sisters. His character has been called into question, and Michael’s been labeled a lazy, hands-off parent. Interestingly enough, before drama ensued at the family picnic (where Michael continued to eat his meal while Amy wrangled both of their sons), Amy’s hasn’t been really negative when it comes to describing Michael as a husband or father. The two were together for years, but before she settled down with Michael, Amy was in a couple of low-profile relationships that led to dramatic breakups.
1000-Lb Sisters’ Amy Slaton Played A Part In Her Relationships Ending
Amy used her YouTube channel to discuss the painful breakup that she was going through with her then-boyfriend, Matt. Unlike her marriage to Michael, the 1000-lb Sisters star took accountability, stating that her behavior played a part in her relationship coming to an end. She was probably in one of the five stages of grief when she went into detail about why they broke up in the first place. She definitely thought that she bore some responsibility.
Amy often gets a lot of criticism and judgment online, and that’s something that she was dealing with long before 1000-lb Sisters. She actually cited the hate and negativity she received as a big part of the problem, in terms of why Matt broke her heart. Amy has always spoken her mind, and hasn’t been afraid to face controversy. Her attention-seeking attitude proved to be too much for Matt to handle.
1000-Lb Sisters’ Amy Slaton Regretted Her Behavior
When another romance fizzled out, Amy regretted her behavior. She was upset about problems with a boyfriend called David. She made a video apologizing for her actions. The clip was uploaded to her YouTube channel previously, but she later decided to delete, as she got so much criticism from her followers. This time, she explained that the situation escalated after drama ensued between her and David’s ex-girlfriend, who was trying to come between them. Initially, she thought that he ended their relationship because of her YouTube channel, and all the time that she invested in it.
Although she admitted that YouTube was her life, and could have been part of the problem, she later found out that David had been lying to her. She explained that in the end, he wanted to get back together with his girlfriend. Amy had been having arguments and drama with David’s ex. It’s unknown what was said, or what exactly went down between Amy and David’s ex-girlfriend, but regardless, he sided with his ex, rather than Amy.
After dealing with the inevitable hurt of having her heart broken over and over again, Amy vowed that she was going to be single for a very long time. She didn’t want to go through that same pain again. These are the only romantic relationships that Amy has been open about, apart from Michael. Unfortunately, just like the drama on YouTube, the tension and controversy on 1000-lb Sisters may have been the downfall of Amy and Michael’s marriage. Does Amy’s need for the spotlight take precedence over her romances? Maybe so.
