Lisa Vanderpump, Ariana Madix, and Lala Kent attended the 2023 White House Correspondents’ dinner, where Lisa’s allegiance to Ariana in the current Vanderpump Rules scandal was made clear. At this point, almost everyone has heard about the drama on VPR, due to Tom Sandoval’s months-long affair with Raquel Leviss. This affair ended Tom’s nine-year-long relationship with Ariana, whose popularity has only soared post-Scandoval, the nickname aptly given to Tom and Raquel’s hidden dalliances. However, as each new Vanderpump Rules episode airs, viewers are finding Tom’s deception hard to forgive, leading to his own popularity lessening.
Extra caught up with Lisa and Ariana at the WHCA for a quick interview on all things Scandoval. One popular Instagram account covering the drama, @byewighellodrama, shared the ladies responses.
After the reporter showed Ariana Madix love by informing the star that she was supported, Lisa chimed in to agree, saying “Well look at her, I mean really, I mean how stupid is that,” alluding to Tom’s poor choice to cheat on someone as beautiful as Ariana. Lisa then says “Don’t get mad, get even, look, she got even,” while continuing to gush over Ariana, who looked ethereal in a long white gown.
Lisa briefly spoke about the upcoming Vanderpump Rules season 10 reunion, which the cast shot just a few weeks prior. “It’s going to be very long. It was a very complicated situation,” Lisa explained, adding, “there were a lot of feelings that needed to be worked out.” Lisa then joked that the reunion covered so much information and drama that it could air for four weeks instead of the typical three-episode style. However, if viewers are looking for closure, Lisa’s next words allude to this not being found, as she stated “I can’t say it’s the end of that story, maybe it’s just the beginning of another one.”
Though not in this interview, Lala was also in attendance at the 2023 White House Correspondents’ dinner, spending most of the evening alongside Lisa and Ariana. Along with Katie Maloney, Lala was one of the first Vanderpump Rules‘ stars to suspect that the friendship between Tom and Raquel seemed “off,” as the duo had been spotted spending time together sans Tom then-girlfriend, Ariana. Once the affair became public, Lala emerged as an outspoken friend for Ariana, lashing out at Tom on social media, allowing Ariana to take the quieter high-road. The strengthening of the ladies within VPR’s has been one of the greatest side effects to emerge from Scandoval.
Ariana is definitely following Lisa’s advice of “get even” by scoring tickets to the WHCA, finding a new romance with a fitness trainer, landing a new role in a Lifetime film, and gaining endorsement and comedy gigs, all while showing up to events looking gorgeous and well rested. Meanwhile, Raquel and Tom have taken-on an abundance of public backlash, causing Raquel to enter into mental health counseling while Tom attempts to take some of the heat off of his back by deflecting his poor choices onto others. Ariana’s ability to “get even” by winning post scandal is a bright spot in a dark season of Vanderpump Rules.
