Gen V teases its release window while showcasing a new character. The Boys spinoff series will follow a group of college-age Supes at Godolkin University. Founded by Vought International, the school’s purpose is to train Supes who will one day work for Vought and maybe even join the Seven. While Gen V will feature a new cast of characters, familiar faces from The Boys are confirmed to appear, including A-Train, Ashley Barrett, and Soldier Boy. A 2023 release date was previously confirmed, although a more specific date was not given.
A tweet via the Vought International account has now teased a release window for The Boys spinoff Gen V alongside a character poster for Golden Boy, a Godolkin University Supe played by Patrick Schwarzenegger.
The tweet and the Godolkin University website urge prospective Supes to picture themselves enrolling for the Fall, thus suggesting Gen V will debut then as well. As for Golden Boy, between his name, his appearance, and the Godolkin University website noting that he is ranked #1, he is clearly the college’s poster child, much like Homelander is for Vought and the Seven.
How Gen V Can Make The Boys Even Better
By exploring Supes before they begin working for Vought, Gen V can continue fleshing out the fascinating and problematic world already established in The Boys. Homelander, the Deep, and most of the other adult Supes are entitled and wreak havoc without a second thought, and they are usually shielded from facing consequences for their actions. If this is the case with adult Supes, it will be even worse with college-age Supes, with Gen V showing how Vought corrupts young heroes at Godolkin University.
This is already evident with the use of Golden Boy, as despite still being a college student, Vought is already using his appearance for advertising purposes. They are already treating him as a product under their control who can do no wrong, regardless of what he does behind closed doors. Gen V can reveal more about how this society shapes Supes into their worst selves, along with revealing more about the sinister inner workings of Vought.
This raises the stakes even further for Billy Butcher and the rest of the Boys as killing Homelander isn’t enough to defeat Vought. The Boys need to dismantle all the roots Vought has planted into various parts of society, from Victoria Neuman in politics to the influence Vought holds over emerging Supes through Godolkin University. Gen V can tell its own story while also featuring cameos and connectivity that can have major implications for The Boys.
