The Little Mermaid Doll Reaction Proves The Casting Backlash Was Ridiculous
Seeing Little Mermaid fans of all ages playing with the new Ariel doll, which was released on April 23 and has already become a number-one bestseller on Amazon, is especially heartwarming given all the backlash to Bailey’s casting which elicited the viral hashtag #NotMyAriel. As expected, the hate has mostly died down and there is nothing but excitement for Bailey’s debut in The Little Mermaid later this month. For the most part, fans of all ages, colors, and genders are embracing Bailey as their new Ariel.
This past March, Bailey previously opened up about how much the new Ariel doll means to her, saying she can’t believe how well it captures her version of the iconic character. The doll itself perfectly captures her likeness, including her flowing red braids to other signature parts of her iteration. For those who want one of the limited-edition Ariel dolls for themselves, it is recommended they act fast because they are expected to sell out closer to The Little Mermaid release date on May 26.
