Jim Parsons talked to one surprising The Big Bang Theory co-star about wanting to leave the series before it was announced. Despite its continued popularity, the nerd-centric sitcom ended its 12-year run in 2019. The show could have continued for more years, but Parsons was no longer interested in playing Sheldon Cooper.
In Jessica Radloff’s The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story Of The Epic Hit Series, Simon Helberg admitted to talking to Parsons about his thoughts on leaving after season 12. In fact, the Howard Wolowitz actor admits that he shared the sentiments. Read his full quote below:
I was aware that Jim felt ready to move on from the show, and we did talk about it. I felt the same. We felt like season twelve was the end of the run.
Can The Big Bang Theory Main Cast Have A Young Sheldon Reunion?
Parsons talking to Helberg about such a delicate topic may be surprising for many because of a couple of reasons. Firstly, Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki admitted to feeling blindsided by the matter. Since they were the original trio with Parsons, it would have made so much sense if he talked to them first. Secondly, Sheldon and Howard weren’t exactly that close in The Big Bang Theory, since the former liked to mock the latter.
After The Big Bang Theory, Parsons and Helberg were still able to work together via Young Sheldon, albeit while only doing voice cameos. With news that the CBS prequel may be ending after season 7, questions about who else from the Pasadena gang may appear have popped up. Some are even floating the idea of a The Big Bang Theory reunion in Young Sheldon before it wraps up.
For now, there are no concrete plans for a The Big Bang Theory reunion with all of the members of the Pasadena gang. But, Chuck Lorre and Warner Bros. TV are collaborating for a brand-new spin-off. Perhaps then, Sheldon and Howard can reunite on-screen.
