Warning! Contains spoilers for The Flash #797!Forget the powers of a Kryptonian, Superboy thinks that one Bat-Family member is stronger than fans think. A time-displaced version of Jon Kent reveals which Gotham hero has a spirit that the Boy of Steel finds admirable.
In The Flash #797 by Jeremy Adams, Serg Acuña, and Tom Derenik, Jai and Irey West, along with their friend, Maxine Baker, are kidnapped across time and space by their old enemy, Knives Maroney. Knives has assembled a team of the young heroes’ greatest enemies from their past, present, and future, to eliminate them for good. Fortunately, the speedster twins are assisted in their battle by the Super Sons, Robin and Superboy.
The kids make a break for it and try to figure out where they are and how they can get back to their homes. Damian Wayne decides to take lead, and his curt behavior earns him the scorn of Irey West. Jon plays mediator and tells the speedster that Damian had a difficult childhood being raised by the League of Assassins. But Superboy says Robin chose to fight for good in spite of his past, leading the young Kryptonian to claim that Damian is the strongest person he knows.
Superboy Reveals How Strong Robin Really Is
Jon isn’t wrong when he says Damian had it rough growing up. From the moment Damian could walk, he was trained to fight and kill by some of the world’s deadliest teachers. His mother, Talia al Ghul, groomed Damian to one day conquer the world. But the youngster chose differently when he took on the role of the Boy Wonder. He was able to overcome years of conditioning and become a good hero and a good person as well. It hasn’t always been easy for Damian, but he’s grown considerably since his debut.
Of course, when Jon says that Robin is the strongest person he knows, he doesn’t mean physical strength. Even at his young age, this version of Superboy could go toe-to-toe with some of DC’s heaviest hitters. Jon’s referring to the strength of Damian’s character. While that might not seem as impressive, it’s quite a compliment. Jon is very much like his father, and just like Superman, he knows that what truly defines a person is what’s inside. And for the Man of Steel’s prodigy, no one has a greater character to them than Damian Wayne.
Damian’s Spirit is the Bat-Family’s Strongest
To be fair, the Bat-Family is full of resilient heroes. But out of all of them, Damian has arguably had the worst experiences. Raised by assassins. Murdered and resurrected. Possessed by demons. Despite his young age, Robin has had a lot thrown his way. But no matter what he’s faced, Damian survived it and used those experiences to make him a better hero. He’s had the world stacked against him since birth, but Damian has ultimately become one of the best heroes of his generation.
