How To Complete The Murmuring Hollow Relic Ruin (Burning Shores DLC)

While exploring Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores, Aloy can discover a mysterious location known as the Murmuring Hollow: a new Relic Ruin with some tricky environmental puzzles to solve. Aloy could find and solve several Relic Ruins in the base game to receive skill points, XP, and unique Ornament collectibles. The Murmuring Hollow is no different, and it has plenty of rewards for Aloy to claim.

To complete Relic Ruins such as the Isle of Spires Relic Ruin, players must solve environmental puzzles, using Aloy’s knack for problem-solving to create new paths to follow. These ruins often feature locked doors that can only be opened with hidden Key Modules and door codes pieced together from Old World datapoints. Luckily, Murmuring Hollow is a relatively simple puzzle.

How To Find And Solve The Murmuring Hollow Relic Ruin

The Murmuring Hollow is located in the southeastern part of the large central island in the Burning Shores, as shown on the map above. The best place to start is at the campfire at a small abandoned Oseram camp nearby. Facing away from the cliff, players should follow the path forward.

The entrance to the Murmuring Hollow is immediately to the left of the path. Drop down and ignore the door directly in front of Aloy for now.

To the left of the door, players will come across the Locked Out Again datapoint, which hints at a door code found on the highest levels of the ruin. Turn around, making sure to collect one of the Burning Shores’ Brimshine Fragments, and head back out of the ruin towards the campfire. Aloy can use the nearby anchor point to rappel down into a different part of the Relic Ruin.

This part of the Ruin has several rusted train cars with doors that Aloy can pry open with her spear. Pry open the doors of the train car on the left and pull the lever inside. This will cause the train car to move a bit.

After heading out of the train car, Aloy will be able to pick up a newly revealed Energy Cell on the side of the train car. Grab it and head forward into the Murmuring Hollow to return to the main room. Aloy can then plug the Energy Cell into the slot on the train car in the main room.

Aloy can then head around to the back of this train car, pry open the doors and pull another lever. After a slightly nerve-wracking descent towards the cliffside, Aloy can hop out of the train car and access a locked door. Unfortunately, she still needs the code to open it.

To get the code, players should head out of the ruin and get on a flying mount, such as the Burning Shores’ new Waterwing mount, and fly to the top of the ruin. They can then grapple onto a grate on the roof to break a hole for Aloy to enter the top floors of the Relic Ruin. Inside, players will find an elevator shaft that they should climb to the top. A datapoint has the code: 1315.

Aloy can then head back down, open the door, and collect the Murmuring Hollow’s rewards. This includes a new Ornament she can use to put on another spectacular light show at the Oseram settlement of Hidden Ember. However, there’s more to find inside the Murmuring Hollow.

How To Explore The Murmuring Hollow Further

While exploring the Relic Ruin, Aloy will hear someone trapped in the ruin and with a few extra steps, she can free them for some interesting interactions. Head back down towards the cliffside and grab the Energy Cell from the side of the train car and plug it into the slot to the right of the Ornament. This opens another room containing a Key Module.

The Key Module can be plugged into the door that Aloy spotted earlier. Inside, Aloy will find none other than Gildun, a familiar face from her travels in Horizon Zero Dawn’s Frozen Wilds. Aloy can chat with him to start A Friend In The Dark, one of the new side quests introduced in Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores DLC.
