How To Complete “Fool’s Gold” Side Quest

There are several ways to acquire weapons in Dead Island 2, but the Lost & Found Weapon quests are an excellent way to ensure the reward will be something extraordinary. One of those quests is Fool’s Gold, which requires hunting down a couple of clues to unlock Blood Rage, a Legendary weapon.

Players need to head out to Venice Beach to start the Fool’s Gold quest. Once there, investigate the Lifeguard HQ to find a Dead Island 2 Cusher Zombie named Dante. After killing Dante, he will drop the first note, and the notification that the Fools Gold quest has been started will appear.

How To Find Clues For The Fool’s Gold Quest In Dead Island 2

The first clue, found through Dante, is called “A Totally Legit Letter” and states that there’s an important package inside the locker of someone named Randy. The lockers being referred to are the lifeguard lockers which are also located in the Lifeguard HQ. After opening the locker, the next clue will indicate players should head for a meet-up spot on the pier. Go to the Ferris wheel end of the pier where Dead Island 2‘s Butcho The Clown is first introduced. The third clue is right behind an Ice Cream stand, in that area, sitting on a bench. Once collected, the last clue to find is Dante’s burner cell.

The burner cell will be all the way back toward the front of the pier. Look around the trash in the small alley next to the Merry-Go-Round Café to find the last clue. Now that players have the code to unlock the safe, it’s time to open it. The safe is located back in the area where the quest began, Lifeguard HQ. On the South-East side of the building, there is a path with a fence running along it where the safe will be half buried in the sand. Kill all the Zombies to allow a chance to safely retrieve the reward, and then unlock it to grab Blood Rage.

Fool’s Gold Quest Rewards

Unlike Dead Island 2‘s early weapons, Blood Rage is a Legendary weapon that comes fixed with the Superior Melee Puncturator Mod and the Perks, Puncture Wound, and Infectious. All of these are on the weapon when found and can’t be swapped, but the remaining two open slots can be used to customize it. Blood Rage is ideal for one on one combat or small groups of Zombies, but in any situation where players fear they may take a lot of damage, it is not recommended because of its proximity requirement. However, it is still one of Dead Island 2‘s best weapons and one of the earliest Legendary weapons available.
