Without spoiling anything, the player still has a chance to explore the chaotic streets of Hell-A and find things to do in Dead Island 2 after beating the game, with many of the best tasks left to finish. Whether it’s completing a quest or fully upgrading every one of the player’s weapons, there’s still plenty to do in the zombie apocalypse. In addition, although there remain no extra story missions, players can experience side events they might have missed.
As of this time of writing, there remains no New Game+ mode or anything similar in Dead Island 2. Therefore, if players want to team up with a friend online who is just starting the game’s story, they will not be able to carry over powerful guns that would be locked normally at that point of the adventure. This rule also applies to certain upgrades and Skill Decks, limiting a helping player so that they cannot cruise through the game when in multiplayer.
Finish Every Quest Left Incomplete
The different zones of Hell-A are displayed on the player’s map, along with the progress behind side quests in any given area. Players can easily fast travel to these spots to continue these side quests at their leisure, usually with powerful endgame weapons and upgrades. There are a total of 33 side quests for players to explore, along with 84 challenges tied to general goals in the world that will take up some time to 100%.
Find All Legendary Weapons
Another thing players can do when the credits roll is look for Legendary Weapons, which are the strongest tools for zombie killing in the game. Unlike guns or melee items given from events like the “Creature Comforts” side quest in Dead Island 2, legendary weapons typically are harder to find.
Characters and weapons are also seen through unique side quests called Lost and Founds, rare multi-objective tasks that grant treasure rewards. A total of 15 Lost and Founds can be discovered throughout Dead Island 2‘s story, so players should keep their eyes open for these quests if they want to fully complete the game.
Fully Upgrade All Gear
A fun task players can sink time into could involve upgrading their weapons fully with zombie parts. While going through the game normally gives players opportunities to collect zombie parts from rare Apex Variants to boost their weapons’ power, they have total freedom to accomplish this in the postgame. Special areas called Hot Spots host these powerful zombies, who occasionally drop zombie parts in yellow pouches when defeated.
The best way to spend these zombie parts are on weapon upgrades to tackle Points of Interest. These locations are crowded with hordes of the undead, so players need to have the best gear possible to tackle these areas and kill the named zombies that are fought there. One of the best things to do after beating Dead Island 2, Points of Interest, acts as a final challenge for players trying to experience every aspect of the game.
