Paul Peden opened up about whether Vanessa Lachey apologized to him for how things went down during the Love Is Blind season 4 reunion. The reunion was set to stream live on Sunday, April 16, but due to technical difficulties, it ended up being taped and was released on Monday, April 17. In the episode, Vanessa interviewed Paul and his ex-fiancée Micha Lussier, but the exchange resulted in backlash for the co-host.
In an interview with People, Paul did confirm that Vanessa reached out and sent him an apology message for how things went down at the Love Is Blind season 4 reunion. “Vanessa sent me a message acknowledging that she ‘may have been misled about how you wanted to defend yourself.’” He said she was most likely apologizing for the “clear bias” that she had shown in their conversation. Paul posted an Instagram Story of a photo of some flowers with the caption, “Thanks for acknowledging the accidental misleading @vanessalachey.” He later revealed to People that the flowers were not tied to the apology, as they were from Netflix, not Vanessa.
Vanessa Lachey Criticized For Love Is Blind Reunion Interrogation
It was unclear why Vanessa was so harsh with Paul during the interview. Paul said it felt like an “interrogation on issues.” He had hoped that the reunion would provide a space for him to have an open discussion about the relationship that he and Micah developed on Love Is Blind, but that wasn’t really the case. “It was drilling into these things…In all, it’s all right. I think that no matter what you say…your character comes through.” It would indeed appear that Paul has a lot of support and that he didn’t let what he called Vanessa’s “little bit of personal bias” get to him.
While the actions of Vanessa and her husband Nick Lachey are always being criticized as Love Is Blind hosts, there have been some calls for their removal following the harsh interrogation. The couple has hosted Love Is Blind for all four seasons. With the apology, it doesn’t appear Netflix is making any moves to replace them. As far as replacements go, though, there have been some ideas posted online for Lauren and Cameron Hamilton from Love Is Blind season 1 to come in and host instead. They are one of the strongest couples who have come out of the show and have maintained a decent social media following ever since.
Despite all the rumors and the drama, Vanessa and Nick appear to be content with their roles as the hosts of Love Is Blind. It can be a tough thing helping strangers navigate through the experience of meeting each other without ever seeing each other. However, going forward, Vanessa will surely use more careful wording and be more delicate about tough situations that take place on Love Is Blind. At the very least, she should try to appear a little less biased because typically the role of the host is to be neutral and guiding, not really choosing sides.
