During her campaign for state senator, Taissa’s alternate fugue self returns, bringing back terrible memories of her past in the wilderness surviving with her Yellowjackets teammates. Season 2 sees her fugue state take more control over Taissa, sending her on a road trip to meet with an adult Van (Lauren Ambrose) at the conclusion of episode 4.
In a recent interview with TVLine, Cypress bluntly discusses Taissa’s story in Yellowjackets season 2, teasing a more substantial role in season 3. When asked about the haunting man with no eyes, the actor admits he will not feature much in season 2. Cypress further explains Taissa’s journey does not play a major role in Yellowjackets season 2 at all, but will factor more in the following season. Read her full quote below:
He’s not going to figure a lot in Season 2. In fact, Taissa’s whole story doesn’t figure a lot in Season 2. You’re going to have to wait at least until Season 3 to get some real answers on what’s going on with her. But you know, there’s plenty of fun shenanigans to be had this season between the girls. But yeah. The man with no eyes, he’s a mystery to all of us at this point.
What’s Next For Taissa in Yellowjackets
Yellowjackets season 2 episode 4 ended with Taissa arriving at a small town to find Van working in a boutique video store. Although Taissa woke to find her car on empty and miles from home, she continued forward to meet with her high school flame for the first time in decades. The two will likely be strained and tense at first; however, Taissa and Van will be forced to confront their past feelings.
Taissa clearly understands that her life is falling apart, primarily due to her alternate self resurfacing with a vengeance. As a result, her marriage has fallen apart, she murdered the family pet in an apparent sacrifice, and her wife nearly died in a car accident she caused. Taissa’s only option for understanding is Vanessa, her former girlfriend who first saw Taissa’s fugue state’s connection with the supernatural nature of their wilderness home.
The Yellowjackets season 2 episode 5 trailer teased a tense confrontation between Taissa and Van. With a lot of baggage to unpack, the pair must revisit the events of the fateful Winter to heal and reconnect. Since Taissa has no one else to turn to, distancing herself from Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) after Adam Martin’s murder, Vanessa may be her last hope to finally rid herself of her alternate self and the man with no eyes.
