The Titans’ beloved joker Beast Boy is showing off his love of goofing around on a new variant cover. Garfield Logan gets a special cover that captures what fans love most about the animal-based shape-shifting hero.
With a new Titans series on the way, artist Bruno Redondo drew fans’ attention to a special cover he made for the ongoing’s debut issue. On Twitter, Redondo made a post saying “Titans #1 FOC is next sunday! And I made this trading cards variant cover.“. Along with the message, Redondo shared an image of his cover that shows off the seven main characters of Titans, along with their headquarters, Titans Tower.
However, hidden among the cover is a joke for eagle-eyed fans to spot. In every trading card image on the cover, Beast Boy can be spotted crashing every one of his teammates’ photos. Beginning with Nightwing’s section, Garfield appears as an innocuous bird in the background. But Beast Boy slowly takes up more and more space in his pals’ images, to the point where he draws the ire of Raven and Cyborg. And on Beast Boy’s designated card, his friends can be spotted staring daggers at the hero over his antics.
Beast Boy Annoys His Best Friends on New Titans Cover
Though he was once a member of the Doom Patrol, DC fans all recognize the green-skinned hero as one of the most famous Titans. Garfield Logan has been with the Titans since he joined the crew during the New Teen Titans era, and his ability to turn into any animal arguably helped him carve out a role as one of the team’s most famous members. Beast Boy is a kind, empathetic soul, but if there’s one thing his fans know about him, it’s that he loves to make people laugh.
What really works about Bruno Redondo’s variant cover is the creeping way Beast Boy appears on each member’s card. At first, it seems like an accident that the hero is winding up in his friend’s shots. But as Garfield begins taking up more and more space, it becomes clear he’s doing it on purpose. But despite his exaggerated behavior, Beast Boy and the rest of the Titans all come together in the final image for Titans Tower. Beast Boy may drive his friends nuts, but it’s one of the things they all love about him.
Beast Boy’s Silly Behavior Unites the Titans
Every team has a prankster or cut-up that likes getting a laugh. Beast Boy might seem like an attention hog in this cover, but the truth is that he just likes having fun and shows it by acting like a goof. It may get on the Titans’ nerves sometimes. But being a hero is a stressful job, and someone who provides a little levity is a crucial member of any family unit. Bruno Redondo’s cover acknowledges that Garfield has a specific role on the team as the clown. But Beast Boy’s jocularity may be one of the best things that brings the Titans together.
