Love Is Blind‘s season 4 reunion left many cards on the table, including Zack Goytowski’s mention of “receipts,” which was confusing. During the reunion, Zack and his now-wife, Bliss Pourteezadi, were going back and forth with Zack’s ex, Irina Solomonova, about her behavior during the season. Initially, Zack chose to propose to Irina over Bliss, wanting to explore the connection he had with Irina further, even though he felt strongly about both women. Irina immediately understood she’d made a mistake accepting Zack’s proposal and hoped to leave the show as soon as possible. She was persuaded by production to give her relationship a chance, but the couple broke up quickly.
Zack went on to win Bliss back, while Irina departed the Love Is Blind season without finding a partner. During the reunion, Irina was called out for villainous behavior and put on blast, specifically by Zack, for the way she treated him during their time together. Despite an apology from Irina, Zack continued to talk about how difficult dealing with Irina was but ultimately explained that he had “receipts” that he’d posted on his Instagram earlier in the day. Upon further investigation, Zack’s “receipts” don’t prove much of anything, and instead, are somewhat confusing.
Zack Was Talking About Forgiveness When The “Receipts” Came Up
During the Love Is Blind season 4 live reunion, Zack was discussing Irina’s behavior towards him while they were together. He explained that the audience “only see[s] 10% of it on the camera,” but ultimately forgave Irina for her behavior. Zack also shared that everyone on the show who’s made a mistake is being judged harshly enough by the public, who are seeing them at their worst and most vulnerable. He was emotional for a moment, talking about how he had receipts for everything he’d been alleging against Irina, but “the only receipt I think the world should see are the ones I posted on my Instagram today.”
Why Love Is Blind’s Zack’s “Receipts” Are Confusing
It’s clear that Zack planned an elaborate speech in order to push the masses to his Instagram and get them to read his post, but after rushing to his grid to find the “receipts,” it’s still incredibly unclear as to what he was talking about during the reunion. The receipt is a long multi-photo post where Zack talks about his mother, who tragically passed away, and how forgiveness and grace helped her to overcome years of mental instability. He details his own story with his mother and how he came to terms with her mental illness, choosing to forgive her after finding stability and religion in his life.
While it’s obvious the post is about the power of forgiveness and grace, the framing and lack of context for Zack’s comments during the reunion within the post make it incredibly jarring. Zack’s story is powerful, but his delivery didn’t make the statement he wanted it to. The correlation between his choice to call Irina out for her “bad” behavior and his decision to forgive her for her own humanity is tough to connect, causing unsettled confusion rather than a definitive understanding. While his message makes sense, the way Zack chose to go about delivering it during the reunion is inauthentic and overwhelming rather than thoughtful or clear.
While Love Is Blind‘s live reunion had much larger issues than Zack’s decision to use his platform to spread his confusing message, his bizarre speech definitely wound up being one of the most talked about moments from the reunion. With Irina thanking Zack in confusion for his forgiveness, it was clear that the exes have hashed out what they needed to and, as Bliss said, would not be talking about it any further. With the Love Is Blind season 4 reunion finally finished and streaming on Netflix, Zack’s confusing “receipts” may continue to circulate as new viewers watch the season.
