Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 1 episodes 1-2.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love has dropped its first four episodes, and cast member Lexi Goldberg has already established herself as a fan-favorite to watch out for. However, Lexi’s girlfriend, Raelyn, does not exhibit the same traits that make Lexi one of the most shining personalities from the first same-sex season of The Ultimatum. In fact, Rae has shown many signs of not being the right match for Lexi, while Lexi might be better suited for another cast member.
Lexi and Rae are one of five couples on The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 1. Like The Ultimatum: Marry Or Move On, the Netflix reality TV dating show features one half of a couple who wants to get married and one half who’s not yet ready. Though Lexi is certain that she wants to tie the knot, Rae is extremely hesitant. This left the women at a crossroads. To find out what they should do, they each agreed to participate in The Ultimatum: Queer Love. This means that Lexi and Rae must split and date other people before moving in with someone and then getting back together. However, there are many reasons why Lexi shouldn’t stay with Rae.
8 Rae Doesn’t Know What She Wants
The first two episodes of The Ultimatum: Queer Love showed the ten cast members dating around as they decided who they would move in with during their newly formed relationships. These episodes also established the fundamental differences between Lexi and Rae. Though Lexi is only 24 and Rae is three years older, Lexi knows exactly what she wants. Lexi is extremely grounded and confident about her future, dreams, goals, and expectations. On the other hand Rae, age 27, does not at all know what she desires out of a relationship. This massive difference leaves Lexi lacking commitment from Rae.
7 Rae Isn’t Ready For Marriage
While Lexi could allow Rae time to figure things out, the women are on different pages about marriage. This is what landed them on The Ultimatum: Queer Love in the first place. However, this is a massive dealbreaker for Lexi. Lexi made it crystal clear that she wants commitment and marriage, and that she wants these things in the near future. Therefore, if Rae is not able to quickly change her mind through the process, then the two women cannot be together.
6 Rae & Lexi Share Have Different Expectations
Overall, it is cleat that Lexi and Rae entered The Ultimatum: Queer Love with different goals in mind. Lexi chose to talk to the other women to find another person who was compatible with her goals of marriage and a committed future. This led to her and Mal Wright getting along, as Mal changed her commitment stance for Lexi. On the other hand, Rae didn’t seem to appear on the show to look for commitment or consider the seriousness of marriage. Instead, she seems to enjoy dating around outside of her relationship with Lexi, though she didn’t talk about what that meant for their potential future together in the first few episodes.
5 Rae Can’t Provide The Same Assurance
It’s clear from the first few episodes of The Ultimatum: Queer Love that Lexi is someone who brings a lot to relationships. She showed that she is committed, loving, and nurturing, as well as fiercely loyal. However, Rae admitted to Lexi that she fears she isn’t able to return the full support and love that Lexi gives her. Lexi discovered that she deserved a lot in her relationships, not because of Rae, but because of the other people on the show as they helped her see “the love I bring and the goodness I bring and the maturity I bring.” Unfortunately, Rae is someone who leaves Lexi feeling undervalued and under-loved.
4 Rae Ignores Red Flags
The maturity levels between Lexi and Rae were highlighted when both women interacted with notorious The Ultimatum: Queer Love cast member Vanessa Papa. Lexi quickly saw that Vanessa was toying with both women and didn’t seem to take the process seriously. “What the f*** did you come here for?” Lexi asked Vanessa after their final date. Lexi was able to see through Vanessa and call out her warning signs, especially since Vanessa went after both Lexi and Rae. However, Raw was not able to note the glaring red flags that Vanessa exhibited before the cast members chose their new couples.
3 Rae Chose Vanessa
The fact that Rae still chose Vanessa as her partner despite the enormous discomfort Vanessa made Lexi feel is a rather big red flag for Rae. “I don’t trust her, she is a fake person,” Lexi declared about Vanessa, while she fully tried to warn Rae about the other woman. However, Rae chose to risk her future with Lexi after the show for the chance to explore things with Vanessa for a few weeks while knowing how much that would threaten what she has with Lexi.
2 Lexi Is Vibing With Mal
While Rae betrayed Lexi in a way by choosing Vanessa, Lexi indicated that she doesn’t need Rae in her life due to how quickly she bonded with Mal. Though Lexi issued the ultimatum to Rae, she fell for Mal in a few days and had her feelings reciprocated. “I know how to give you what you need in this time. I know it was going to be you, I was always going to choose you,” Mal declared before calling Lexi smart, brilliantly funny, and an anchor. “You would make an amazing wife,” Mal said to Lexi after knowing her for a few days. However, Rae couldn’t return these feelings after years.
1 Lexi Is Happier Without Rae
Overall, the fact that Lexi is able to be so happy with Mal indicates that Rae isn’t the one for her. Mal and Lexi connected instantly on The Ultimatum: Queer Love and had a seamless transition from splitting up with their original partners to picking each other to moving in together. The women had instant chemistry and communication and navigated getting to know each other and respecting each other’s boundaries. Given Lexi’s immediate connection with Mal, it’s clear she doesn’t need to leave the show with an uncertain Rae.
