A behind the scenes photo from the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s movie shows just how expansive the film’s set is. Adapted from Scott Cawthon’s horror video game franchise of the same name, Five Nights at Freddy‘s was first announced in April 2015 before getting stuck in development limbo for several years. Production on the film finally began in February, with filming completed in April. Five Nights at Freddy’s is slated to be released on October 27 in theaters and on Peacock.
In a behind the scenes photo from Five Nights at Freddy’s extra Dolly Dachshund posted to Twitter by Jonny Blox, the massive Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria set is on full display. Check out the full-scale restaurant set below:
Dachshund says that the Pizzeria is “one, entire, big set,” and that “everything was connected,” rather than individual sets made for the various rooms.
Everything We Know About The Five Nights At Freddy’s Movie
With the first Five Nights at Freddy‘s trailer now released, fans of the horror franchise have been praising the footage for being faithful to the original video games. Dachshund’s photo shows the dining room of Freddy Fazbear’s, complete with stylized tables, booths, and the entrance to the neon-lit arcade, a close replica of the locations seen in the first two Five Nights at Freddy’s games. While Five Nights at Freddy‘s seems to be largely following the plot of the first video game, Cawthon revealed in January that he signed a three-picture deal, and that a second and third film could follow subsequent game arcs.
Starring Josh Hutcherson as Mike Schmidt, Five Nights at Freddy’s follows Mike as he begins a new job as a night guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, only to discover that the animatronic characters in the restaurant become murderous after dark. The film also stars Scream alum Matthew Lillard as antagonist William Afton, one of the creators of Freddy’s. The film is produced by horror studio Blumhouse Productions, who used Jim Henson’s Creature Shop to create the Five Nights at Freddy’s animatronics.
Despite a long development period after several years of delays, Five Nights at Freddy‘s is finally on track for release, and the early buzz is so far favorable. Though Blumhouse is often known for producing low-budget horror films, this movie is clearly sparing no expense when it comes to building an entire restaurant for its set. If the attention put into the expansive set is any indication, Five Nights at Freddy’s could be another hit for both Blumhouse and the video game franchise.
