As soon as Netflix released its reboot of Queer Eye, viewers loved watching the kindhearted makeovers featured in every episode. Tan France, Jonathan Van Ness, Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, and Antoni Porowoski help each contestant, giving them suggestions on everything from home decor to clothing to food. With eight episodes in the second season, each one delivered an emotional resolution that was enjoyable to watch.
Queer Eye season 2 took the Fab Five to Georgia to make over deserving “heroes.” Later show seasons took the amazing crew to Philadelphia, Kansas City, and Austin, TX. The newest installment, Queer Eye season 7, aired on May 12, and it’s set in New Orleans. Over the past few years, the Fab Fave enriched the lives of dozens of deserving participants, including those featured in season 2.
Tammye From “God Bless Gay”
Tammye is featured in the season 2 episode of the meme-worthy Queer Eye, “God Bless Gay.” She loves her church, and has struggled, as she and her other relatives have been diagnosed with cancer. In the episode, Tammye and her community center both get a makeover. She was teaching English at a Newnan, Georgia, school called Smokey Road Middle School, and recently chose to retire. According to her Instagram, Tammye is still a big part of her church, and values spending time with her family.
William From “A Decent Proposal”
William’s story in the episode “A Decent Proposal” couldn’t be sweeter. He and his partner Shannan had been together for a long time, and they were homebodies who loved watching films. He wished to get engaged, but wanted a makeover to feel better about himself. A confidence boost would help him find the courage to propose.
Of course, the Fab Five delivered, giving William a heartwarming makeover. By the end of the episode, he had proposed to Shannan in public, by playing a short film he had made, and getting down on one knee. Thankfully, Shannan and William are still a married couple today. William is also making short films and writing movies. He has a YouTube channel called The Noncast.
Leo From “Unleash the Sexy Beast”
Leo’s wife Bethany wanted The Fab Five to give him a makeover, and while this was a memorable and great episode, there is a limited amount of information about where Leo is now. He’s challenging to track down on social media, but according to Bethany‘s Instagram, the two are still a happy couple. They love spending quality time with their children.
Jason From “The Handyman Can”
In “The Handyman Can,” the Fab Five gave Jason a makeover, and his goal was to move to Reno. Fans who watched this Queer Eye episode will recall that a love connection was forming between Jason and Beth, a pal of his. When someone tweeted at Beth to see if Jason didn’t move to Reno (which had been what he wanted to do), she said, “yes.” Beth and Jason live together in Atlanta, and Jason is still obsessed with Burning Man.
Skyler From “The Sky’s The Limit”
In the season two episode, “The Sky’s The Limit,” Skyler had gotten top surgery, and his support system gave him some financial help, as he raised $8,000 to put towards it. Skyler’s home got a makeover, and the episode ended with a party to celebrate. Today, Skyler posted on his social media that he feels perfect. He’s been open about how recovering from that surgery isn’t quick. He’s an activist, and most recently brought attention to the demonization of drag in 2023. He speaks out about parenting trans youth.
Arian From “Big Little Lies”
Every episode of Queer Eye tugs on the viewer’s heartstrings, and it’s remarkable to see someone reach their goals and dreams after struggling. The episode “Big Little Lies” was about Arian, a guy in his twenties who was finding it tough to get motivated and inspired. Happily, Ari finished his degree at Georgia State University, and worked at Deloitte in Atlanta through 2021. He now works as a delivery manager with T-Mobile in Atlanta.
Sean From “Bedazzled”
In Sean’s episode, “Bedazzled,” fans will recall that he wanted to find a social life because he had been homeschooled. He played the piano well, and planned to attend Piedmont University. He graduated from Piedmont in 2019. He also released a few different albums, which is impressive since he was 18 when he filmed the episode. The Fab Five’s assistance paid off, as Sean is a thriving musician with a solid following on Instagram, and a girlfriend of three years.
Ted From “Make Ted Great Again”
Besides having a clever episode title, this one also has a good makeover story. Ted is the mayor of Clarkston, Georgia, and fans will remember his big beard. While his beard is slightly more tame today, his political prowess has grown. He currently serves as a commissioner for DeKalb County, where Atlanta is located, and continues to do meaningful work through politics.
Queer Eye season 7 is currently streaming on Netflix.
