How Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always Will Honor the Franchise
Banking on a heavy dose of nostalgia, Netflix’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always sees the return of characters from various seasons of the show. Along with Jones and Cardenas, the reunion film marks the return of David Yost, the original Blue Ranger Billy Cranston from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers season 1. Barbara Goodson also lends her voice to franchise villain Rita Repulsa, reprising her original role from 1993.
Catherine Sutherland also returns to portray the second Pink Ranger with Johnny Young Bosch rounding out the cast as the second Black Ranger Adam Park. A recent Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always trailer also featured the return of the Green Ranger. With the original Green Ranger actor Jason David Frank passing away last year, the appearance of the Ranger may indicate a tribute to the late star.
Set 30 years after Zordon formed the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the iconic team must come face-to-face with their past. Through the use of a time portal, Rita intends to travel back in time to kill the group before they become the legendary Rangers. With Trini’s death a pain still lingering among the team, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always appears to honor the late Yellow Ranger actor Thuy Trang when the film premieres on Netflix April 19.
