And Just Like That‘s return to the small screen finally has an official release date. The series, which is a sequel to HBO’s hit franchise Sex and the City, follows the professional and personal lives of Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis). After the buzzy first season ran from December 2021 through February 2022, the show was renewed in March but it took more than a year for the first trailer to premiere, teasing a vague summer release date.
Per Variety, today’s Warner Bros. Discovery upfronts presentation finally revealed the official release date for And Just Like That season 2. The show will premiere on HBO Max, which is currently being rebranded as Max, on June 22. That date will mark one year and four months since the series was last on the air.
What’s Next for the Characters of And Just Like That?
The And Just Like That season 1 finale left the fates of its core characters up in the air. After finally saying goodbye to her late husband Mr. Big (Chris Noth), Carrie had a passionate encounter with her podcast producer in the elevator. At the same time, Charlotte had her own version of a bat mitzvah after her child Rock refused to do it and Miranda announced her intention to move to Los Angeles, accompanying her stand-up comedian partner Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez) while they shoot a sitcom.
The And Just Like That season 2 trailer revealed that there are going to be some major shakeups coming soon. Perhaps the biggest will be the return of Carrie’s former flame Aidan (John Corbett), who will provide major romantic drama for the new widow. Things will likely get more complicated for Miranda as well, because she will somehow end up back in New York, either because Che’s sitcom fails to get off the ground or she regrets her rash decision to leave everything from her old life behind.
Charlotte will also face major parenting challenges when her teen daughter expresses the wish to start becoming sexually active. In addition to these new storylines and the return of Aidan, And Just Like That will also be adding more characters to the lineup that will surely complicate matters. The guest stars on hand for this season include Tony Danza (as Che’s sitcom co-star), Candice Bergen, and even Gloria Steinem.
