The Bridgerton spinoff follows the eponymous queen’s rise to power in England following her marriage to King George. The show has been praised by critics for focusing on the romance between Charlotte and George and the high stakes the series presents throughout.
According to Deadline, Queen Charlotte has maintained its spot as the top show on Netflix for the second week in a row. For the week of May 8 to May 14, 2023, Queen Charlotte garnered 158.68 million hours viewed. This gives the series a grand total of 307 million hours viewed since its debut on May 4.
Can Queen Charlotte Get Into Netflix’s Top 10 Of All Time?
Queen Charlotte‘s massive number of watch hours and maintained popularity means the series has a real chance of becoming one of Netflix’s Top 10 shows of all time. Currently sitting at No. 10 of all time is Inventing Anna, which earned a whopping 511 million views within its first 28 days of premiering. Given Queen Charlotte‘s propensity for getting around 150 million hours viewed in its first two weeks, maintaining those numbers could easily put it on Netflix’s Top 10 shows of all time by the end of May.
No matter how many views the series gets overall, though, Queen Charlotte‘s popularity has opened the door for other possible Bridgerton prequels exploring the origin stories of characters from the flagship series. Creator Shonda Rhimes teased more Bridgerton spinoffs, specifically hinting at a possible prequel starring the Bridgerton children’s mother Violet. It seems Queen Charlotte will just be the start of the world of Bridgerton expanding.
Queen Charlotte‘s popularity continues to hold strong, which is a good sign for both future Bridgerton spinoffs and more seasons of Bridgerton itself. Bridgerton season 3 has already been filmed, with season 4 also planned for the future.
