Fire is one of the most useful and easy things to create in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It has numerous uses, including cooking, resting to pass the time, keeping Link warm, or even helping Link through a tough area by giving him the ability to light his weapons or burn through materials blocking an objective.
The method for creating fire is no different from Zelda: Breath of the Wild. All Link needs to do is acquire Flint and Wood to craft it. Once those items are collected, he simply needs to drop the two materials next to each other and strike them with a metal weapon to create a small fire.
Fires cannot be created when it is raining. They will immediately be put out. One way to work around this when the weather is not preferable is to find a covered area to craft the fire where the rain can’t touch it, such as under an overhanging ledge.
How To Find Flint & Wood
To find Flint, Link will have to do some exploring, usually in cave-like areas. There will generally be ore deposits throughout these types of areas that Link can smash with one of his boulder-fused Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom melee weapons. Not every ore deposit will contain Flint, so it can take some grinding to find a decent amount. It’s also best to stockpile some if possible because passing the time especially can be incredibly useful when the coming weather is less than ideal.
Wood is perhaps the most straightforward resource that Link can collect in Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom. All Link needs is a weapon capable of chopping, which any sword, ax, or similar weapon is capable of. Now all he needs is a tree which shouldn’t be too difficult to track down as there is pretty much always one in sight, no matter where Link is at any time. So go ahead and attack the tree; it will be obvious it is working, as there will be chop marks in the tree with each hit. Once it falls, it will still be a log, so chop it once more to have it turn into a couple of bundles of wood, and it’s as simple as that.
How To Create Fire
Now that Link has both of the materials he needs, head to any area on Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom‘s map and open up the inventory. Hold both the Flint and Wood bundle and then drop them next to each other. Next, take Link’s metal weapon and whack the two materials, which should automatically turn into a small fire. Now Link has made a fire where he can rest to pass the time, toss food on to make simple foods, warm up near, or light his weapons. Given the many uses of Fire in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and the scarcity of Flint, try to keep at least a couple of each of these materials on hand at all times and gather them whenever possible.
