Brie Larson has one movie in mind that she’d really love to star in after Fast X hits theaters. The Marvel Cinematic Universe star rose to prominence with the release of Captain Marvel in 2019 and has been enjoying the limelight ever since. Now, however, Larson sees a potential vehicle to bring some more diversity to the Fast and Furious franchise with one clever idea.
In an interview with ET Online, Larson explained that she and the other women from Fast X would love to star in a spinoff together. Check out her quote below:
“I don’t think we’d be mad about anything that involved ladies all together. It was very clear that we would love to spend more time together.”
Larson has wanted a Fast and Furious appearance for years, so it’s no surprise that she wants the chance to appear in more. Yet, with the addition of her other stars agreeing to want to take part in a women-led Fast X spinoff, it is evolving into a real possibility.
Could A Larson-Led Fast X Spinoff Work?
While Fast X is all about John Cena and Jason Momoa squaring off, a women-led spinoff from Fast X could produce new and interesting dynamics. Instead of keeping the franchise’s focus on the same characters throughout the years, Larson’s Tess could star in a production that brings a breath of fresh air. That gives it the potential to be a great move, especially since the franchise seems to be coming to an end.
Of course, it could still be difficult to draw audiences. Part of what keeps Fast X and other Fast and Furious movies prominent is Vin Diesel, John Cena, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson drawing crowds. A women-led spinoff wouldn’t have the same draw, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t still be viable. After all, Larson is quickly becoming a household name in her own right. With Michelle Rodriguez, Helen Mirren, Rita Moreno, and the other women of Fast X at her side, they could still keep audiences pouring in.
There’s no way to know if the producers are actually interested in the potential spinoff. Yet with Fast X poised to do big numbers in theaters this week, the future of the franchise could hinge on the success of its newest installment. Should it prove as successful as is currently expected, Larson may very well get her dream Fast X spinoff.
