Heels season 2 finally gets a premiere date and new images after a long absence. Back in January, lead star Stephen Amell confirmed that Heels season 2 is on its way back. The series focuses on Amell and Alexander Ludwig as Jack and Ace Spade, respectively, two brothers who do their best to keep the family wrestling promotion DWL afloat after their father’s unexpected death. The show last aired an episode in October 2021, and its return was delayed because of extensive post-production requirements and the changes happening at Starz as it separates from Lionsgate.
Along with some first-look images, which can be viewed in the gallery below, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Heels season 2 will debut Friday, July 28 on Starz.
The photos show Ace and Jack having a conversation, in addition to revealing new shots of Mary McCormack as Willie, Kelli Berglund as Crystal, Mike O’Malley as Charlie, and Duke Davis Robert and Allen Maldonado in their respective roles as Big Jim and Rooster.
What To Expect From Heels Season 2
In the explosive Heels season 1 ending, Jack and Ace were unable to put aside their differences for the benefit of the DWL, continuing a recurring theme from throughout the season. This allowed Crystal Tyler to get the spotlight all to herself in a shocking moment after being overlooked and under-appreciated by almost everyone around her. She wins the promotion’s top championship, a thread that the upcoming Heels episodes are poised to pick up on.
Jack’s focus on wrestling caused his wife, Staci Spade (Alison Luff), to reach a breaking point and hint at a separation. That leaves Jack’s family life as something of an open question. In its preview for Heels season 2, Entertainment Weekly confirms that Jack will be working to get the forgiveness of Ace and Staci. As for the resident villain Charlie, he remains determined to keep the DWL out of business. Finally, in terms of what to expect for Crystal after her moment of triumph, it sounds like her championship win will be called into question.
Heels season 2 will continue featuring cameos from wrestlers, with AEW’s CM Punk reprising his role as Ricky Rabies. There have also been reports that the influential former WWE Divas champion AJ Lee has filmed a cameo. After so long away, it sounds like the sports drama will pick up right where it left off.
