A beautiful piece of fan art places Captain Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) of the USS Enterprise-G alongside her legendary Star Trek predecessors. Seven of Nine finally received her Starfleet promotion at the end of Star Trek: Picard season 3, happily bringing her struggles with the organization to an end. Now that she’s in command of the USS Enterprise-G, Seven will be following in the footsteps of Starfleet legends like Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart).

Adams’ artwork contains every Starfleet officer to ever command the starship Enterprise in the Prime Universe, from Captain Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula) of the NX-01 to Captain Seven of Nine of the Enterprise-G. Interestingly, @JAdamsArt’s image also reveals that Seven is just the second female officer to command the USS Enterprise. The other female captain was the USS Enterprise-C’s heroic Captain Rachel Garrett (Tricia O’Neill), who was referenced in the Picard season 3 premiere.
Captain Seven Of Nine Continues The Enterprise’s Star Trek Legacy

Starfleet entered its 250th year of going boldly in Star Trek: Picard season 3, Seven’s captaincy is another stride forward for Star Trek‘s post-Borg future. Although Jean-Luc Picard was also assimilated into the Collective, Seven of Nine is the first former Borg drone to then be given command of her own ship, marking a significant step forward. In embracing what makes Seven different, Starfleet has ensured that the Enterprise will continue to make a difference for centuries to come.
The Star Trek universe wouldn’t be the same without the USS Enterprise, so it’s reassuring that the name will continue long into the 32nd century. To date, Star Trek: Discovery‘s 32nd-century Enterprise hasn’t been seen on screen. If it does appear in Discovery season 5 then it’s hoped that information about Seven’s time in command will be vague. A lack of foreknowledge about the 32nd-century Enterprise’s forebears will allow Captain Seven of Nine to write her own Star Trek legacy, further cementing her position in the history honored by @JAdamsArt’s celebratory artwork.
