Bode Akuna is one boss that likely came as a shock to many Star Wars Jedi: Survivor players as he spends most of the game posing as a close friend to Cal Kestis. However, once reaching the last third of the game, after finally defeating Dagan Gera, things start to get a little more tense, and Bode’s true colors come out.
Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Turns out that Bode Akuna has been lying to the Mantis crew from the start and will do just about anything to protect his daughter, including sacrificing everyone else. After Bode’s intentions are revealed, a chase scene will ensue with Cal on his tail. Then, after catching up to him, the first of two final boss fights with Bode will begin.
Follow Bode Akuna To Tanalorr
After revealing the secret that he was also a Jedi, the first of two fights with Bode will begin. While players have to engage in this fight, it is not meant to be won. Unfortunately, Cal is destined to lose this fight regardless to progress the story. Despite that, players will still be forced to try. Since this fight can’t be won, the only thing to do here is attempt to stay alive as long as possible while parrying and dodging Bode’s moves. Unfortunately, this fight is not likely to last long since BD-1 was left behind and Cal is unable to heal, so once it’s over, Bode will escape while Cal is injured.
The second time Cal runs into Bode will be on Nova Garon, where Star Wars Jedi: Survivor‘s Bode Akuna has been under Imperial protection with his daughter. Again, though another chase scene will ensue, Bode will manage to escape, this time heading off to Tanalorr, where the Mantis crew will follow him after going to the Alignment Control Center on Koboh. After reaching Tanalorr, the only main thing to do is confront Bode one last time. This is where the final boss fight of Jedi: Survivor will begin, and as expected, Bode is the most challenging fight thus far, with a variety of attacks Cal will need to look out for if he hopes to succeed.
How To Defeat Bode Akuna
This fight will happen in two phases, with the second being significantly harder than the first. Some primary things to note are that Bode will stagger his attack timing and make blocking much more difficult, and when his stance is broken, he will only leave an opportunity window for about one hit before jumping away. He will also be most vulnerable after unblockable attacks, especially the one where he slams his lightsaber straight down. Finally, don’t forget to deflect Blaster shots, as this is not something Cal has typically had to worry about in many Jedi: Survivor boss fights.
One of the most challenging attacks to avoid will be a move in which Bode sticks his lightsaber into the ground on either side of himself and creates a shockwave of sorts. The best way to dodge this is to avoid in the direction of whichever side he sticks the lightsaber on. So, for example, if he sticks it in the ground on the right side, dodge to the right.
In terms of Cal’s Force abilities in Jedi: Survivor, he can use the Force to pull Bode to him, who will attack in retaliation giving players a chance to force an attack they’ll be ready to parry and close some of the distance Bode constantly tries to create to throw Grenades. The grenades Bode uses are not Force-sensitive and stick to the ground. Cal can use these to his advantage by forcing Bode to remain in the area of the grenade since he can damage himself with them too. Once the fight is complete, Cal will finish off Bode in a cutscene, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor‘s final boss will be defeated.
