Speaking with Variety, Bialik comments about the new The Big Bang Theory spin-off. Despite interest in seeing her back as Amy, the actress maintains that she was unaware that such a project has been in the works until the news broke out. Read her full quote below:
“I was completely surprised. My kids are like, ‘Mama, do you know anything about this?’ I promise, I don’t.”
Will Mayim Bialik’s Amy Be In The New The Big Bang Theory Spin-Off
There are a few possible options for The Big Bang Theory spin-off at this point. It could be a more straightforward sequel following one or two members of the Pasadena gang. Raj and Stuart are two of the best candidates for this option since they have the most unsatisfying endings in the sitcom. Bialik can certainly appear as Amy in either of these shows, considering her friendship with both of them.
Another option is to do something that is tied to Young Sheldon. The family show has become TV’s number one comedy, and if it’s up to CBS, they would likely want to continue it beyond season 7. However, due to The Big Bang Theory‘s established canon, it has a pre-determined end. Luckily, a couple of tweaks can pave the way for its continued run, although it would be a bit trickier to get Amy involved.
For now, it’s great to know that Bialik is as enthusiastic as the fans are about the new The Big Bang Theory spin-off. This means that if any opportunity arises about her reprising Amy, she would be more than happy to oblige. Before all that, however, hopefully, she makes another voice cameo in Young Sheldon.
