The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Mauricio Umansky recently shared why he made the decision to leave the real estate agency Hilton & Hyland to start his own company, The Agency. Hilton & Hyland is owned by Kathy Hilton’s husband, Rick Hilton. Kathy has also been featured on RHOBH lately, so Mauricio’s decisions could definitely have had a ripple effect on some of the relationships that have played out on the show.
Mauricio talked to Us Weekly about how difficult it was to leave Hilton & Hyland behind and start his own business venture with The Agency. He said, “It was an extremely tough decision for me. I didn’t sleep for months and months because of that decision.”
Mauricio struggled with his loyalties to Rick and the company he worked for for so long, but he knew that it was time to do his own thing, and in the end, he felt good about that. As for how their relationship is going now, Mauricio said, “Rick and I have a very good working relationship. Today it’s a different problem between the families.”
Did Mauricio’s Career Move Affect Kyle’s Relationship With RHOBH’s Kathy?
The “different problem” he referred to is the ongoing feud happening between Kathy and her half-sister Kyle Richards, who is Mauricio’s wife. Since Mauricio’s career change was years ago, it doesn’t seem like he is too concerned that the feud between Kathy and Kyle is his doing in any way. He added, “They’ve got other issues that don’t have anything to do with me.” He continued on to say that “they’re sisters, they love each other, and their mom would want them to be always together.” While it doesn’t seem like the start of The Agency has left residual bad blood between the women, they still aren’t getting along.
Mauricio just released his book titled The Dealmaker: How to Succeed in Business & Life Through Dedication, Determination & Disruption. He touches on his hope that Kyle and Kathy can reconcile their differences and come together as a family despite all the drama that has occurred. Kyle will definitely still continue to be on RHOBH, but it has not been confirmed if Kathy will continue to appear. She has a big decision to make if it is worth it for all the drama that has happened already during her short time being part of the Real Housewives franchise.
With the upcoming The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 13, it will be interesting to see where this next chapter takes Kathy and Kyle, and if they are able to come back together as a family unit. Mauricio sure seems to hope that the sisters can work it out and that their families can put all the differences aside, as he and Rick have seemed to do with him starting The Agency. Mauricio even has his own show now, Buying Beverly Hills, that features his real estate agency, as well as his daughters Alexia Umansky and Farrah Aldjufrie, but not his wife Kyle.
