Sushang is a fame-seeling member of the Cloud Knights, the military force aboard the Xianzhou Luofu in Honkai: Star Rail. She is also a 4-Star Physical character of the Hunt path. Each of her Skill attacks has a 33% chance of dealing extra damage which becomes guaranteed with a Weakness Break. By Breaking her enemies, Sushang can decimate the toughest bosses with attack after attack.
The perfect Sushang attack is a succession of Skill, Ultimate, and Skill. If Sushang’s Skill can gather enough Energy to activate her Ultimate, she can deal a powerful blow against a single target. The Ultimate increases her ATK and chances of dealing extra Skill damage for two turns while boosting her next turn to the front of the line. By triggering Sushang’s Skill a second time, players can trigger multiple attacks on one target for little cost.
Sushang’s Best Light Cones
Every character from Honkai: Star Rail‘s launch has a Light Cone designed for their kit. Sushang’s custom Light Cone is called Swordplay. The memory within depicts Sushang skeptically examining a light sword and comparing it to her giant golden sword. Each time Swordplay’s wearer hits a target, their DMG is increased with a maximum of five stacks. The bonus clears when Sushang switches targets.
Since Sushang’s kit is about hitting one enemy multiple times, this Light Cone is perfect for her.
Out of all the 5-Star Light Cones following the Hunt path, In the Night works best for Sushang. This Light Cone, made for 5-Star Quantum Hunter character Seele, plays off Sushang’s SPD bonuses while also giving the wearer a Crit Rate bonus. For every 10 SPD over 100, the wearer boosts their Basic & Skill DMG by up to 10% and their Ultimate Crit DMG by up to 20% with a maximum of 6 stacks.
Sushang starts with a base SPD of 107 and can temporarily increase her SPD after inflicting a Weakness Break. This can help strengthen her Skill-Ultimate-Skill attack pattern.
Sushang can use Dan Heng’s custom Light Cone, Only Silence Remains. His Light Cone boosts ATK and provides a Crit Rate bonus when there are two or fewer enemies. As a Hunt character, Sushang works well in battles with limited enemy numbers, so she can take advantage of this Light Cone.
Sushang’s Best Relics & Planetary Ornaments
Sushang’s best Relic set has to be Champion of Streetwise Boxing. This is the Relic set designed for Physical characters, as it bestows a 10% Physical DMG bonus when two pieces are equipped. At four pieces, the wearer gets a 5% ATK bonus when they attack or get hit. This can stack five times for a 25% ATK bonus. The simple trigger essentially makes this a permanent 25% bonus, strengthening the effectiveness of Sushang’s multiple hits.
Sushang can also use a 4-piece Thief of Shooting Meteor set. This set boosts Sushang’s Break Effect by 32% at four pieces and regenerates 3 Energy whenever the wearer inflicts a Weakness Break. If players lack four strong Champion of Streetwise Boxing Relics, they can mix them with Thief of Shooting Meteor.
Sushang has two good options for Planetary Ornaments, although one requires more commitment to SPD than the other. The first, Space Sealing Station, can provide up to a 24% ATK bonus. While it starts at 12%, it increases to 24% when the wearer’s SPD is 120 or above. The second, Talia: Kingdom of Banditry, increases Break Effect by 16%. If Sushang’s SPD gets to 145 or higher, the set adds a 20% Break Effect.
When Sushang’s Talent is fully advanced, her SPD will get over 120 after a Weakness Break. In order to get to 145, however, players may need to invest in a Feet Relic with a SPD main stat. Otherwise, they can use ATK% for her Feet. Meanwhile, her Body should be Crit based while her Sphere gives a Physical DMG bonus and her Link Rope provides ATK%. Like most DPS characters in HoYoVerse games, Sushang’s secondary Relic stats should be Crit Rate, Crit DMG, and ATK%.
Tips For Building Sushang
When building Sushang, players should focus on upgrading her Skill and Ultimate in order to further the Skill-Ultimate-Skill combo discussed earlier. The better Sushang’s Skill, the more damage she’ll be able to deliver with her extra hits. Upgrading her Ultimate will increase her ATK by 32% after triggering her Ultimate as opposed to an 18% bonus.
Her Talent should come after these Traces in priority, as the SPD boost from Weakness Breaks can help trigger the effects of her Planetary Ornaments. Players don’t have to worry about her Basic, since Sushang can actually use her Skill for free.
This powerful perk only unlocks when players reach Eidolon level one. Once they unlock the Eidolon, Sushang’s Skill will restore one Skill point if she uses it against a Weakness Broken enemy. This balances out the initial Skill point used to activate the Trace. While players won’t always get a free Skill use, Sushang is built to trigger Weakness Breaks consistently. This means Sushang will rarely have to use her Basic once this Eidolon is unlocked.
Sushang’s other Eidolon levels can help reduce DMG taken at level two and boost her Break Effect at level four. Level six allows the SPD boost of Sushang’s Talent to form two stacks. This means that when her Talent is fully upgraded, Sushang can get a 42% bonus to her SPD after a Weakness Break.
This bonus can get Sushang’s SPD over 145 after a Weakness Break, triggering the secondary ability of Talia: Kingdom of Banditry.
Once players get one copy of Sushang, they shouldn’t have any problems collecting her Eidolon and signature Light Cone. She is arguably the best 4-Star Main DPS character currently available in Honkai: Star Rail. Only Seele and Clara beat her out. Players will need to be careful to avoid sending her into a fight lacking enemies with Physical weaknesses, and she isn’t great against large mobs. However, send her into a boss fight and she’ll decimate her opponent.
