On the heels of their January album Little Rope, Sleater-Kinney have returned to offer the Freyed Rope Sessions EP.
The three-track EP consists of reimagined versions of Little Rope tracks “Say It Like You Mean It,” “Hunt You Down,” and “Untidy Creature.” The release also coincides with International Women’s Day today (March 8th) — proceeds from Sleater-Kinney’s Bandcamp sales will benefit the reproductive justice organization Noise For Now.
In addition, Sleater-Kinney have released the video series “Little Rope Unraveled,” where the duo break down the three original tracks that appear on the Freyed Rope Sessions EP. Of the new release, Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker wrote in a statement, “We wanted to step back into these songs, reimagine and revisit them, both for ourselves and for the listener. The different arrangements expose the songs anew, getting at their core or the outer edges. Frayed Rope was a way for us to travel through the songs and perhaps arrive at a different destination.” Stream the EP below.
To support the EP and Little Rope’s release, Sleater-Kinney are set to perform on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday, March 15th in the midst of their 2024 world tour. Get tickets to all of their upcoming shows here.
